The 2026 CBA establishes an Attendance and Dependability point system for non-probationary Flight Attendants under Section 22.D., with progressive discipline outlined in Section 22.E.
Points are assessed for attendance occurrences such as illness/injury, Did Not Fly (DNF), missed meetings or training, late boarding, and late check-in. Points themselves are used to track attendance occurrences and may lead to an Attendance Warning as they accumulate.
Point Values for Attendance Occurrences
| Attendance Occurrence | Points |
| Illness/Injury over 6 days | 2 |
| Illness/Injury 6 days or less, no physician’s note | 2 |
| Illness/Injury 6 days or less, with physician’s note | 1.5 |
| Did Not Fly (DNF) | 3 |
| Missed meeting or training | 2 |
| Late boarding | 1.5 |
| Late check-in | 1 |
A DNF may be reduced to 2.5 points when the Flight Attendant picks up a pairing that departs the same day as the missed pairing and secures that assignment while physically present at the departure airport of the missed pairing.
Physician’s Note Requirements
For the 1.5-point illness/injury assessment, the physician’s note must include:
- Date of illness or injury
- Date of examination
- Date of return to work
- Physician or designee signature
- Physician’s printed name, work address, and telephone number
The note must be provided to the Flight Attendant’s supervisor, not United Medical, on or before the Flight Attendant’s next scheduled pairing.
Attendance Warnings
As points accumulate, the Attendance Track progresses as follows:
| Point Accrual | Level of Discipline | Remains in Effect |
| Below 6 points | None | Points generally expire 12 months after the occurrence |
| 6 or more points in a rolling 12-month period | Attendance Warning 1 | 12 months active service |
| 12 or more points | Attendance Warning 2 | 18 months active service |
| 18 or more points | Attendance Warning 3 | 18 months active service |
| 24 or more points | Attendance Warning 4 | 24 months active service |
| 30 or more points | Subject to discharge | — |
The effective date of an Attendance Warning is the date of the point-generating occurrence that triggers the warning.
When Attendance Track discipline expires, the Flight Attendant exits the Attendance Track with zero points.
Other Important Changes
- Missed Trip (MT) is now referred to as Did Not Fly (DNF).
- Occupational injury or illness occurrences do not generate attendance points.
- Time off permitted under the CBA or Company policy is exempt from point assessment.
- Flight Attendants are responsible for knowing their current point accumulation.
- Points may continue to accumulate even if a notice or Attendance Warning has not yet been received.
- If a point assessment is later determined to be unjustified, the Company must correct the record and adjust any discipline that resulted from that assessment.
Attendance and Performance Tracks
Attendance and Performance discipline normally operate as separate tracks. However, a Flight Attendant cannot simultaneously be on Attendance Warning 4 and Performance Warning 4. A situation that would result in both instead triggers a discharge investigation.
