Flight Attendants should understand the difference between credited hours and actual block hours when reviewing a line projected over the monthly maximum.
Credit Time = actual block time + RIGs + deadhead.
Credited Hours Over Max
If your awarded line exceeds the monthly credited maximum of 95 hours, you may contact Crew Scheduling before the start of the month to have the line adjusted after first attempting to reduce your time through trip trades.
Keep in mind:
- Carryover pairings from the prior month do not count toward the credit maximum, but they do count toward the actual maximum.
- When attempting to trade down, do not complete a trade that increases your time. Doing so may be considered an election to fly over max.
- If you cannot trade below the applicable 95/100-hour credit maximum before the month begins, contact Crew Scheduling.
- Scheduling may first attempt to assist with a trade before dropping a pairing.
- If you choose not to adjust the line before the month begins, you may be required to fly it as long as you remain within your actual block-time maximum.
Actual Hours Over Max
Actual maximum calculations include carryover pairing block time.
If your line is projected over the actual maximum and you do not increase your maximum or trade down, the line may be automatically adjusted:
- International lines: 10th of the month
- Domestic lines: 20th of the month
If a pairing must be dropped, your preference should be considered with Crew Scheduling. If no agreement can be reached, the Crew Scheduling Manager determines the adjustment.
Opting to Fly Over Max
Both Lineholders and Reserves may voluntarily opt to fly over max during the schedule month through the Electronic Bulletin Board or by contacting FAST or Crew Scheduling.
Flight Attendants may also elect to fly over max on the bid screen during the bid window.
